My Hallway Makeover!
The house makeover is in full swing, with the hallway finally getting some much needed personality injected into it! It all began with the dream of a pink door and I am beyond happy with how it turned out. We used the Premium Wood and Metal Valspar Interior Paint in shade Pink Daisy with a Satin finish and it adds such a great pop of colour!
I combined this with a gorgeous Navy and Gold Spot Wallpaper from House by John Lewis, which adds both a cozier and more luxe vibe to the hallway, with the addition of brass hat and coat hooks all along the wall to help really finish the look off. We haven’t wallpapered anywhere else yet (this is the first room I haven’t just painted white) but I think I’ve caught the bug a little bit.
A natural wooden shelf then helps keep other bits and bobs to hand. One of my favourite little touches in the hallway is the mismatch of boxes and jars of stuff that I can now store up the top, it’s given us so much more space to work with and really helps bring the whole look together.
I wanted to actually take a minute to highlight that just changing the space wasn’t enough - an overhaul of what we keep out here was definitely needed! It became clear to me pretty quickly there was no point me having spent all the time and money wallpapering and painting if I was just going to shove the same old tatty coats up on the wall.
It became a good opportunity to Kon Mari a few things that might have slipped under the radar from my initial purge and create the welcoming hallway I had envisioned. I wanted everything there to be bringing some joy when I opened the door… so basically just my autumn items seemed to have made the cut, very curious!? It also just meant reconsidering the amount of stuff we had lying about out there and storing things away more precisely, with only the most used items needing to be to hand.
It’s really making me appreciate all the items I love and what could do with replacing. Lucky for me, the guys at Gaston Luga also gifted me that gorgeous backpack which is hanging front and centre just as I was just finishing the hallway and it’s kind of the star of the show now! Perfect, as it’s become my go-to bag for work, weekends and most things in between!
It’s weird to think that beforehand I had only considered the walls and hooks but not what would be hanging from them - always a good reminder to look at life as a whole and how even the fashion you choose can effect your interiors too!
I’m not going to lie, we’ve got a few bits I still want to do and am definitely still working on the shoe situation, but I really wanted to share the progress so far as I’m super proud of how it’s all coming together.
Let me know what you think of my hallway makeover, plus any suggestions always welcome!
