Autumn Leaves and Acorn Garland DIY
Ever since we put these bookshelves up I’ve been dreaming of autumn rolling around so I can put pretty garlands on them! It’s the time of year I like to turn all my books round for that extra cozy feel, so I wanted something that would both add a little pop of autumnal colour, whilst keeping within the look. Cue this super easy and super cheap diy to make your very own Autumn Leaf Garland!
What you’ll need:
Length of Twine
Acorns (real or faux)
Scissors
Old Book with yellowed pages
Pencil
Method:
Start by measuring out your twine to your desired length and lay out on the table
Place your leaves and acorns along the garland, leaving a gap in between each. I alternated the sizes of my leaves and used a variety of colours but you could create whatever pattern you fancy!
Once you know how many leaves you needy can take one of each size and draw around them onto a page from your old book.
Cut out as many paper leaves as you need (I put a few pages together to help save time!)
Use the Hot Glue Gun to attach you leaves to your paper leaves with a dab of glue at the top of each
Next, lay out your twine again and assemble your pattern from earlier, making sure you’re happy with the distribution of leaves and acorns.
Work your way along the garland, using your Hot Glue Gun to attach each item to the twine until you are done!
Autumn / Fall really is my favourite time of year so I’m loving having so many more decorations to put up this year! Making them yourselves is a great way to save money on them (plus if you’re in the U.K. like me your actual options for buying them pre-made is probably limited!
I’m so happy with the autumn colour they add to my bookshelves, especially against the turned round books. Such an easy and cheap way to decorate for Autumn / Fall. Hope you love hanging yours in your home!
