5 Cheap and Easy Ways You Can Make Art for Your Home
I’m always on the lookout for quick and affordable ways I can update my home decor, so today I wanted to list out a few things I’ve found that make updating or creating artwork for your home as easy as 1,2,3! The best part? You probably have most of these things laying about the house already!
Most of the things I’m going to suggest you should probably have around your home already and if not are super cheap and easy things to pick up at most stores! I really believe budget shouldn’t be a barrier to making your home look and feel special and have always found this such a great way to easily update a space!
Apart from the ideas below the only other thing you need are a selection of frames to display your new art in, but you can also get super creative with this!
Artwork from Books
If you’re anything like me you have loads of old books lying around with some really great artwork in that never sees the light of day! Now, of course I know to some this is highly controversial, but if I don’t ever pick up and browse and book and isn’t something I’ve spent a lot of money on like a gorgeous coffee table type book or something I don’t see the harm in carefully taking a page out so I can enjoy the work more! If you don’t have anything like this, you can often pick up books like this for super cheap from charity shops as well!
Postcards/Greeting Cards
Depending on how much of a hoarder you are will effect this, but I have hundreds of old cards and postcards that I’ve kept if I like the design of them. These make the best addition to your walls, especially as part of a larger gallery wall display! If you don’t have anything lying about, this is also the sort of thing that will only cost you £1-2 if you wanted to get them new!
Wrapping Paper
Again, this is a firm favourite of mine. It’s the perfect way to use up the leftover bits from gift wrapping, and you can get some really beautiful and fun designs! Sometimes I even just buy a sheet of wrapping paper with framing it in mind! Places like Oliver Bonas, Paperchase and Anthropologie are great for picking up fun and exciting patterns!
Stamps
You can get some really pretty stamps and though it may sounds random I think they make super cool artwork, particularly if you have different ones from a set! You can pick up old/vintage stamps from eBay or Car Boot Sales but they’re also releasing new ones all the time you can pick up for the same price as normal stamps!
Get Crafty
Lastly, I just wanted to say you can always just create your own designs too by getting a little bit crafty! In the IGTV I did for this (which I’ve popped at the bottom of this post) I grabbed a page out of an old book, an install photo and some gold leaf to create a really fun little piece of art! You could use all sorts of things for this though, like leftover paint, newspaper, the list goes on and on so don’t be scared to get a little bit creative!
Hope you have fun finding art for your home!
