Stamp your own Star Wallpaper DIY
I don’t know about you, but I love an easy and affordable way to quickly update a space. Since we moved into our home, the hallway stairs had stayed a bit boring and I really didn’t know what to do with them, but was always on the look out for ideas! I was inspired by an instagram story I spotter by Elsie Larson where she’s stamped stars around her kids room in their new home. Obviously, I’m just a big kid at heart so I wanted these stars in my hallway… so I set about making it happen!
I particularly loved this project as I found using a stamp to create look this gave a really lovely effect where they’re not all completely perfect the way you would get with a decal. They’ve got so much more personality which I’m obsessed with! I might touch a few up in the future but for now I’m just really happy with how they turned out so I thought I’d share my process with you all here!
I’ve included my instagram story video showing the process for making the stamps at the end of the post or you can also go here to watch it!
What you’ll need
Thick Craft Foam
Super Glue
Wooden Offcuts (that will fit the size of your stamps)
Pencil
Scissors
Scrap Paper
Paintbrush
Paint (in your chosen colour)
Method (Creating the Star Stamps)
Draw out your star shapes onto some scrap paper. I drew lots of different sizes and shapes before picking my favourites.
Cut out your selected paper stars and place on top of your craft foam.
Draw around your stars lightly onto the foam.
Cut out the stars.
Plan which stars will fit which wood offcuts (these may need cutting down if quite large).
Use super glue to stick stars to the wood, ensuring all the points are secure.
You now have your stamp! To test, cover with a thin layer of your chosen paint (I used Middle Buff by The Little Greene Paint Company) and press for a few seconds onto some scrap paper.
Repeat this test a few times until you get the paint application just right.
Now, you’re ready to go you can stamp away on your walls! I chose to use sporadic placement to keep mine feeling personal and not too regimented but you can approach this stage however you like!
Have fun!
So there you go… it really is as easy as that! Let me know what you think in the comments and how you get on trying it yourself!
